Peter Gibson is Professor of Gastroenterology at the School of Translational Research, Monash University, having previously been Director of Gastroenterology at Alfred Health. His research interests are in IBS, IBD and maintenance of intestinal health, with major attention to novel methods to assess structure and function of the intestine, and to the use of diet and other non-pharmacological strategies to improve health and patient outcomes. He has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers and received many awards that include the Distinguished Research Prize by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia in 2010; 15th Panir Chelvam Memorial Lecture, Malaysia 2018; APDWF-JGHF Marshall-Warren Lectureship 2021; and the Web of Science Highly Cited Researchers Awards in 2020-4.
