Jyh-Ming Liou, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor at National Taiwan University and Director of the Department of Medicine at NTU Cancer Center. He also serves as Secretary General of the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan.
Dr. Liou earned his M.D. from National Yang-Ming University and Ph.D. in epidemiology from NTU. His research focuses on gastrointestinal cancer prevention, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic resistance, and gut microbiota. He has led pivotal studies optimizing H. pylori eradication strategies—including sequential therapy, bismuth quadruple therapy, and genotypic resistance-guided treatment—published in Lancet, Gut, and Gastroenterology. He contributed to the Taipei Global and Maastricht VI consensus statements on H. pylori management.
His work also demonstrated the long-term safety of H. pylori eradication on metabolic health and microbiota. Dr. Liou has received multiple honors, including the Outstanding Research Award of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan (2018 & 2023), the NTU Hospital Outstanding Research Award, and the JGH Foundation Emerging Leader Award.
