John Windsor

Professor Windsor holds a personal chair in Surgery at the University of Auckland, Director of Surgical and Translational Research Centre and an HBP/Upper GI Surgeon at the Auckland City Hospital. Has been Secretary General of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, a councillor of IHPBA, APHPBA and AOPA and Chair of the RACS Section of Academic Surgery. Elected as Fellow of the American Surgical Association, James IV Association of Surgeons and Royal Society of New Zealand. Awarded the Gluckman Medal for distinguished research contributions at the University of Auckland and the Sir Louis Barnett Medal for distinguished contributions to the RACS. For 30 years, he has actively promoted research and education, especially the training of surgeon scientists. His research includes pathophysiology and management of acute pancreatitis, the role of toxic mesenteric lymph in critical illness and the mapping and modulation of gastric electrical activity. H Index 93. Founding Director of 4 start-ups.
