Prof. Masatoshi Kudo graduated from Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan. Following this he received his PhD degree in Medical Science in 1987. He completed a clinical fellowship in Kobe City General Hospital followed by a research fellowship at the University of California Davis Medical Center in USA during 1987-1989 and Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 1990-1992. He is currently a Professor and Chairman at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Kindai University Faculty of Medicine since 1999, President of Kindai University Hospital since 2008 and the Executive Board Member of Kindai University since 2015.
Professor Kudo has published 1379 International scientific peer review papers in well regarded journals (Total IF=10761.1, Citations=82,722, H-Index 119, International Collaboration Article 350) in addition to 1086 domestic scientific papers. He has given 530 invited lectures in the area of his expertise on numerous occasions at the international congresses. He serves as an Executive Board Member for Japan Liver Cancer Association (JLCA) (Formerly Liver Cancer Study Group of Japan: LCSGJ) and a representative of JLCA Head Office. Professor Kudo is also a Past President of the Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine (JSUM) (2014-2020), Past President of Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Association (APPLE) (2015-2017), Past President of WFUMB (2011-2013), Past President of AFSUMB (2016-2018), an Executive Board Member of Japan Society of Hepatology (JSH), Past Executive Board member of International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA). He is currently an AASLD Education Committee Member. He is also serving as an Editor in Chief of LIVER CANCER (Karger) (IF=11.6). He was awarded as “Highly Cited Researchers” in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 consecutively by Clarivate Analytics in the field of “Clinical Medicine” and also awarded as the 2024 Highly Ranked Scholar, which is given to the world top 0.05% researchers by Scholar GPS (Meta Analytics).Professor Kudo is the first author of “Consensus based Clinical Practice Guideline of HCC Proposed by Japan Society of Hepatology” published in 2007, 2010, 2014 and 2021 revised version.
