Dr. Enrik John T. Aguila is a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist at St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City and Ospital ng Maynila, where he heads the Endoscopy Unit. He is also a faculty member at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) and chairs the GI research committees of both hospital institutions.
He earned his MD–MBA degree from ASMPH and completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City. He pursued advanced endoscopy training at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals in Adelaide, Australia, as an APAGE Clinician-Scientist Scholar, followed by a clinical observership at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Harvard Medical School as a Berenson Scholar, supported by grants from the Berenson, ASGE, and JGH Foundations.
Dr. Aguila actively serves with the national GI and endoscopy societies and internationally with the APAGE Emerging Leaders Committee and the WEO Emerging Stars Program. A passionate mentor to young gastroenterologists and a strong advocate of digital and simulation-based education, his professional interests include therapeutic endoscopy, advanced imaging and resection, and endoscopy training.
He is an Associate Editor of the Philippine Journal of Gastroenterology, Deputy Social Media Editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and serves as faculty with the Asian Novel Bio-imaging and Intervention Group (ANBIIG) and the Academy of Endoscopy.
