Yan-Shen Shan is a distinguished professor of the Department of Surgery, Institute of Clinical Medicine, College of Medicine, NCKU, Taiwan. He devotes in surgery for UGI and HBP cancer. He also joins many international clinical trials and designs IIT for these cancers, especial for biliary pancreatic cancer and gastric cancer. In the past decades, he already published more than 250 manuscripts in PubMed and got several research awards.
Dr Shan also performs translational studies to explore the microenvironment of gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer, focuses on the role of tumor associated macrophages on tumorigenesis of cancer and the mechanism of desmoplasia of cancer. Recently, he tries to elucidate the interaction between cancer cells and fat cells and the energy for cancer progression.
Fluid biopsy can monitoring during therapy, De Shan also develop the application of cfDNA and dPCR for retestion of Kras variant during chemotherapy and monitoring disease relapse after PDAC patients received pancreatectomy.
