Dr. Fardah Akil is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology,
Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, Makassar. She is a
certified consultant in gastroenterology-hepatology and digestive endoscopy, as well as a national
trainer for Emergency in Internal Medicine (EIMED). Her expertise covers liver diseases,
gastrointestinal infections, and therapeutic endoscopy.
With more than two decades of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Fardah has held key
leadership positions, including Head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division (2013-2020)
and Chair of the Joint Commission of InaASL-ISG-ISDE, Makassar Branch. She currently serves
as an expert advisor to the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of
Health of the Republic of indonesia, where she contributes to national strategies and treatment
programs for viral hepatitis. Now as a founder and President of IndonesianWomen Gastrointestinal
Hepatology (InaWoGIH) Endoscopy, she create community to support women gastroenterologist
with an interest in endoscopy.
Her academic contributions include over 20 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as PubMed,
PLOS ONE, and Acta Medica Indonesiana, addressing topics ranging from Helicobacter pylori
surveillance and liver fibrosis to GERD, NAFLD, and IBD. She is also a regular invited speaker at
national and international scientific meetings, including APASL, IDDW, and the Liver Update
Symposium, and maintains active research collaborations with institutions across Asia and Europe.
