Rashid Lui is a Specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Clinical Assistant Professor (Honorary) of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, and Department of Clinical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Dr Lui has clinical interests in digestive cancers, cancer genetics and onco-gastroenterology.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK in 2010 with Distinctions in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Microbiology. After completing his training in Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology, Medical Oncology, and Advanced Internal Medicine, he was conferred as a First Fellow in Genetics and Genomics (Medicine) by the Hong Kong College of Physicians. He has received various accolades, such as the Young Investigator’s Award (2nd Prize) at Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2018, the inaugural Dr Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation Scholar at the Centre for Personalised Medicine (a partnership between St Anne’s College and the Centre for Human Genetics), University of Oxford, United Kingdom, Distinguished Young Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2019, the 8th Youth DreamMakers Award in 2023, and the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation (JGHF) Short-term Training Fellowship in 2025 which supported his three-month observership at the Cancer Genetics Service, National Cancer Centre Singapore.
Dr Lui has published in peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology, JAMA Oncology, Gastroenterology and Gut, with a h-index of 25 (from Google Scholar). Internationally, he currently serves as the Founding Co-Chair, Emerging Leaders Committee, Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE), Member, Young GI Committee, World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO), Member, Colonoscopy Quality Taskforce, Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee, World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), and Member of the Asia Pacific Working Group on Colorectal Cancer Screening. Locally, he is the Chair of the Public Affairs Committee, Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology (HKSGE).
