Rashid Lui

Rashid Lui is an Associate Professor of Practice in Gastroenterology and Medical Oncology (by courtesy) and Clinical Professional Consultant of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Dr Lui has clinical interests in digestive cancers, cancer genetics and onco-gastroenterology.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK and completed his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Medical Oncology, and Advanced Internal Medicine at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. He was then conferred as a First Fellow in Genetics and Genomics (Medicine) by the Hong Kong College of Physicians. He has received various accolades, such as the Young Investigator’s Award (2nd Prize) at Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2018, the inaugural Dr Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation Scholar at the Centre for Personalised Medicine (a partnership between St Anne’s College and the Centre for Human Genetics), University of Oxford, United Kingdom, Distinguished Young Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2019, the 8th Youth DreamMakers Award in 2023, and the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation (JGHF) Short-term Training Fellowship in 2025 at the Cancer Genetics Service, National Cancer Centre Singapore.

Dr Lui has published in peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology, JAMA Oncology, Gastroenterology and Gut, with a h-index of 26 (from Google Scholar). Internationally, he is the founding Co-Chair of the Emerging Leaders Committee, Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE), Member of the Colonoscopy Quality Taskforce, Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee, World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), and Member of the Asia Pacific Working Group on Colorectal Cancer Screening. Locally, he is the President-Elect of the Hong Kong Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, Founding Vice-President of the Hong Kong Society of Digestive Oncology, and Chair of the Public Affairs Committee, Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology (HKSGE).
