Dr Sharmila Sachithanandan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Malaysia.
A Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia and graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, she specialises in advanced endoscopy and hepatopancreatobiliary disease. She is the Founding President of Women in GI Network Asia Pacific (WIGNAP) and is internationally recognised for her advocacy supporting women in gastroenterology and endoscopy. She is on the advisory board of APNETs and also serves on the editorial boards of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (GIE) and the Journal of Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
