Prof. Bruno Sangro is Director of the Liver Unit and Coordinator of the HPB Oncology Area at Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona and Madrid, Spain. He is also Professor of Medicine and leads an active research group in the Spanish Network for Biomedical Research on Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD), focused on therapeutic innovation in the field of liver cancer. The HPB Oncology Area at Clinica Universidad de Navarra has pioneered several approaches to the treatment of liver cancer including the use of expanded criteria for liver transplantation, improvement in platforms and techniques used for locorregional treatments including selective internal radiation therapy and chemoembolization, and more recently advances in the immunotherapy of liver cancer from immune checkpoint inhibition to therapeutic vaccination. He has served as President of the International Liver Cancer Association, where he is now involved in Patient Advocacy activities, and as Co-Editor of the Journal of Hepatology.
