Ismail Gögenur is Professor of Surgery and Consultant Surgeon at Zealand University Hospital, where he leads transformative research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, personalized medicine, and oncological surgery. As founder and head of the Center for Surgical Science, he oversees a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers, data scientists, and translational scientists engaged in cutting-edge research across AI, big data, and clinical trials.
A pioneer in surgical innovation, Professor Gögenur has led the clinical implementation of AI-based decision support tools to personalize treatment strategies for patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery. His AI model is currently being rolled out across eight departments in all five healthcare regions in Denmark.
He leads the national consortium for Personalized Oncological Surgery. Professor Gögenur is committed to integrating research, education, and clinical care to build a sustainable research environment that translates data-driven innovation into improved patient outcomes.
