Professor Payal Saxena is a Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist, sub-specialised in Interventional Endoscopy. She completed her specialist Gastroenterology training in Sydney then travelled to the USA where she undertook a two-year Interventional Endoscopy and Research fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is appointed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. She is Clinical Professor at Sydney University and Head of Department and Director of Endoscopy at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
Prof Saxena performs a vast range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures with a particular interest in pancreaticobiliary (EUS, interventional EUS, ERCP) and 3rd space (POEM, ESD) procedures.
Prof Saxena published over 150 Journal papers, book chapters and has been invited to present at a variety of national and international conferences. She is on the editorial review board for gastroenterology and endoscopy journals.
She is a co-founder of WIGNAP (Women in GI Network Asia Pacific).
