Professor Vilaichone received his MD, Ph.D (Medicine) and post graduate training in internal Medicine and Gastroenterology from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand and continued his training as postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA by International Training Grant of American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Professor Vilaichone was also a Secretary General of Gastroenterology Association of Thailand (GAT) in 2014-2016 and Vice Dean, Research affair and Innovation, Chulabhorn International College of Medicine (CICM), Thammasat University in 2017-2020, Assistance to the Rector, Thammasat University (2021-2024). Currently, Professor Vilaichone is a Chief, Center of Excellence in Digestive Diseases and Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) center of Thammasat University, Secretary of the ASEAN Stomach and Microbiota Study Group (ASMG), Scientific Chairman, ASEAN Gastro International Conference 2024, Bangkok, Thailand (https://aseangastro.net/) and Associate Editor of Digestive Diseases.
Professor Vilaichone’s research interests consist of H. pylori infection, Microbiota, FMT, Gastric cancer, GERD, NSAIDs, GI bleeding and Hepatocellular carcinoma. He has more than 120 international publications including Nature, American Journal of Gastroenterology and received 40 academic awards. Professor Vilaichone is a reviewer for many scientific journals eg. Lancet, Gastroenterology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, European Medical Journal, British Medical journal, Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In addition, Professor Vilaichone is a fellow of American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and American Gastroenterology Association (AGAF).
