Professor Siew Ng is Croucher Professor in Medical Sciences and Associate Dean (Research) of Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also the Director for Microbiota I-Center.
Her main research interests include the development of microbial diagnostics and therapeutics in various human diseases including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She has pioneered studies in epidemiology, genetics and pathogenesis of IBD in Asia-Pacific and globally.
She has published over 390 papers in leading international journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Microbiology, and The Lancet. She is Associate Editor of Gut and President of HK Society of Gastroenterology.
Prof Ng was elected as Foreign Member of Academia Europaea. She was the first female clinician-scientist to be awarded New Cornerstone Investigator in mainland China as well as Bank of China Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize. She was named Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate for 5 consecutive years since 2020.
