Dr. Takao Itoi is presently Professor and Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology
and Hepatology at the Tokyo Medical University in Tokyo, Japan. In addition, he is also
a visiting-professor at Keio University and Tokyo Medical Dental University. He was
working as a vice president of his hospital from 2019-2024.
He graduated from Tokyo Medical University in 1991 and has been working as a
gastroenterologist at the Tokyo Medical University. His major is diagnostic and
therapeutic endoscopy, pancreatobiliary diseases; EUS and ERCP including balloon
enteroscopy-assisted ERCP. Until now, he has outstanding endoscopic skills and has
published more than 767 peer-reviewed papers in high impact factor journals on the
novel, special techniques and outcomes.
