APDW 2025 abstract submissions are now open!

Please use the link below to submit an abstract for APDW 2025. All abstracts must be submitted electronically. Hard copy submissions will not be accepted. 

Abstract submissions close 13 June 2025. Abstracts received after this closure date will not be accepted. 

Before submitting your abstract, ensure you read the below guidelines carefully. All the information that you require is included below. 

Abstract submission guidelines

We have prepared guidelines to assist you with preparing your abstract for APDW 2025. It is important to read these carefully when preparing your submission. 

Outlined below are the guidelines that must be followed when submitting your work to APDW 2025. 

  • All submissions must be in English. English is the official conference language and all presentations must also be in English
  • Abstracts must not include any author/affiliation information
  • Submission titles must not be longer than 15 words and must clearly indicate the nature of the presentation
  • Submissions must not exceed 250 words, be clear and concise, highlight relevant aspects, findings and conclusions
  • References are not required for submissions
  • The abstract title and section headings are not included in the overall word count
  • Refer to the presentation titles below for the specific abstract format that must be followed
  • Abstracts must contain original material that has not been published or presented at another international meeting at the time of submission
  • Abstracts must not be submitted to other international meetings which are due to take place prior to APDW 2025

Original research

Young Investigator Award (YIA)

Endoscopy video challenge

Original research submissions can select either and oral presentation | poster presentation | either an oral or poster presentation and submissions need to adhere to the following format: 

  • Objectives
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

Young Investigator Award (YIA) submissions are oral presentations and need to adhere to the following format: 

  • Objectives
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

The Endoscopy video challenge is designed to showcase interesting cases or techniques in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy or gastrointestinal surgery. Video presentations can demonstrate accepted techniques, difficult or interesting cases, complications or innovations within the field of gastroenterological endoscopy.

The 6 best video abstracts will be selected to give a live presentation during APDW 2025 and receive a winning certificate.

During the live video challenge presentation, audio of the submitted video will be muted to allow a 3-4 minute live oral presentation by the presenter. An additional 3 minute Q&A portal will be held after each presentation.

A complete submission consists of the below items, incomplete submissions will not be honoured:

  • Author registration to attend Conference
  • Written video abstract (should not exceed 250 words)
  • Video submission
  • Video submission should have a duration of 3-4 minutes, which should include:
    • Introduction
    • Case presentation
    • Conclusion / clinical application
  • Videos must be submitted in MP4 format
  • There is no file size limit, as submitters are required to provide a URL to where their video is hosted
  • Videos must be submitted at the same time as abstract through the online portal
  • Self-voice narration MUST be included in the video submission (auto-generated voice narration WILL NOT be accepted)
  • Any patient identifying information MUST be excluded or obscured from video clips and narration
  • Abbreviations should conform to the recommendations made by the IUB Committee of Editors on Biochemical Journals
  • Use the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears
  • Use no more than five nonstandard abbreviations
  • Drug products mentioned in abstracts should be identified by their generic names only


The APDW Program Committee reserves the right to determine which presentation type a submission is accepted as and their decision is finale.

*Abstracts may be scheduled for presentation on any day during the conference. 

Abstract awards/grants

In 2025, there will be several awards/grants that submitters can apply for including: 

  • Young Investigator Award (YIA)
  • Poster of Distinction Award
  • Travel grant

The purpose of the Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career.

The three (3) best YIA papers will receive the following awards:

1st prize – USD2,000
2nd prize – USD1,500
3rd prize – USD1,000

Application requirements

  • Applicant must be of 45 years old or below and be in the early stages of his/her career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology
  • Applicant must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries
  • Applicant must submit the training certification and curriculum vitae during the online abstract submission
  • Applicant must be first author and a registered participant of the conference
  • Applicant must also attend the Young Clinical Investigator Program (YCIP) being held on Tuesday 18 November (Pre-conference workshop day)
  • The shortlisted oral abstract must be presented by applicant during the conference


Selection process

  • Applicant should select ‘YIA presentation – oral’ during the submission process
  • Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the abstract selection committee and all successful applicants will be notified in writing
  • The abstract selection committee’s decision is final


Young Clinical Investigator Program

This one-day course will include academic areas closely related to gastroenterology which are often not covered in detail in gastroenterology training program in the region, such as epidemiology, study design, research methodology, biostatistics, good clinical practices, clinical trial methodology.

In addition, attempt will be made to impart skills related to better writing of scientific manuscripts, and on how to read and interpret published literature.

The purpose of the Posters Distinction Award is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career.

A maximum of five (5) posters of distinction at USD1,500 each shall be awarded.

Application requirements

  • Applicant must be of 45 years old or below and be in the early stages of his/her career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology
  • Applicant must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries
  • Applicants must indicate the option to present their work in poster format
  • The shortlisted poster abstract must be presented by applicant during the conference


Selection process

  • Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the abstract selection committee and all successful applicants will be notified in writing
  • The abstract selection committee’s decision is final

The APDWF / JGHF travel grants are to provide the opportunity for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of their career to attend APDW 2025.

Application requirements

  • Applicant must be in the early stages of his/her career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology
  • Applicant must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries
  • Applicants must present personally at the APDW Conference
  • Applicants must be able to converse in English
  • All selected grant recipient must attend the APDWF-JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Program (YCIP) which is held one day before the Post-Graduate Course
  • Travel grants can only be used to fund attendance at APDW 2025 and is not transferable


Selection process

  • Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend education and training activities (ASEAN Countries and APDWF Member Societies)
  • The abstract selection committee’s decision is final

Abstract review

All submitted abstracts will undergo a peer review (blind review) process by the APDW Program Committee. 

Incomplete abstracts, abstracts not written in English or abstracts not following the above guidelines cannot be processed and will not be reviewed. 

No revisions are possible after the submission deadline – no exceptions. 

Terms & conditions

All abstract submitters are required to agree to the below terms and conditions prior to submitting their work. 

  • All authors/affiliations are removed from my abstract document
  • Abstract has been submitted in English
  • Abstracts contains original material that has not been published or presented at another international meeting at the time of submission
  • Abstract has not been submitted to other international meetings which are due to take place prior to APDW 2025
  • Abstract is of copy-proof quality – accepted submissions will be published as received
  • Submitting author hereby commits with the present data protection and privacy policy  
  • Abstract has been prepared according to the guidelines provided
  • Submitting author confirms that the presenting authors will register and pay to attend APDW 2025 and present the work if successful
  • If completed registration is not received by the given deadline, the submission may be considered as withdrawn
  • Successful abstracts will be published in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

A: All abstract submissions are required to be completed online. To submit your abstract click the “submit now” button above/below. Please ensure you read the guidelines on this page carefully prior to submission as there is important information included. Please note, emailed submissions will not be accepted.

A: There are several different types of presentations available:

A: No, QR codes are not permitted in submissions. However, they may be used in presentations.

A: Yes, if applicable. They should be placed at the bottom of the abstract and are not included in the word count.

A: Please ensure that you regularly check the conference website for updates on opening dates and deadlines.

A: Authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission via email in late August 2025.

A: Yes, as a presenter you are required to register, pay and attend the conference. Any presenters not registered by the advertised deadline will be withdrawn from the program.
