Dr. Faming Zhang is the chief and professor of the Department of Microbiota Medicine & Medical Center for Digestive Diseases, Second Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China. He graduated from the Fourth Military Medical University, China, and had visiting scholarship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2011 to 2012. Dr. Zhang leads his team focusing on therapeutic innovations in microbiome at affiliated hospitals of Nanjing Medical University, China. He and his team moved fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) to washed microbiota transplantation (WMT), supported China Microbiota Transplantation System (fmtBank) for providing national non-profit rescue WMT service. His innovations also involved with colonic transendoscopic enteral tubing (TET), the quick endoscopic mid-gut TET, cap assisted endoscopic sclerotherapy (CAES) for heamorrhoids and prolapse, endoscopic anal LPRA positioning methods and colonic TET-drainage for rescuing endoscopy related colon perforation. Dr. Zhang is the initiator and co-chair of China Gut conference which is leading conference on microbiota related diseases with over 10000 attendees.
